My Favourites - Top 5 Wedding Instagram Accounts
This is the first in my new blog series "My Favourites", a feature which will be running every week throughout July and August 2018, listing lots of wedding related things that I love. The subjects will revolve around Instagram, suppliers, designers, Ibiza weddings, venues and trends.
To start of the My Favourites series, is a list of my Top 5 Wedding Instagram Accounts to follow if you are planning a wedding, want inspiration and ideas.... or just love romantic stories!
These accounts feature proposal stories, most of which are SUPER romantic, but in each couples own personal ways. There are cheesy, funny, quirky, tear-jerking, emotional, over-the-top, under-rated stories - but they all have one common factor, they are so, so thoughful.
Want to see someone be proposed to at a beautiful manor house, where their whole family has flown in for the big surprise? Or, someone asking their partner to marry them by spelling it out in pepperoni pizza? (...YESS I LOVE PIZZA)
And, you can submit your own story really easily for it to be featured on their site, which is a lovely way to keep that memory alive forever. By you and your partner writing your own versions, you are bound to find out lots more info on how they were feeling, what they thought during the process and funny details that you may not have known about!
And, it can be added to wedding websites so that your friends and family can read all about, which is especially lovely.
2. Engaged and Ready @Engagedandready
Engaged and Ready is a blog run by Celebrant Natasha Johnson, and is all about doing your wedding your own way and breaking down traditions.
If you want to write your own vows but are not sure where to start, this blog is a brilliant place to learn. Or, if you're not into writing your own and want to choose from a selection, or say your vows in private, that's cool too - do that instead! It's all about making your own choices and doing what you feel comfortable with.
If you don't want to be away from your beau the night before your wedding.. Why should you?! Get ready together, walk in together, do whatever you want because it is YOUR wedding day, your relationship, your marriage.
This account will give you lots of ideas of how you can change things up, learn about wedding day traditions, ceremony rituals and ideas, to find out what you like and what you don't so that you can plan your day to be as special as possible for you both.
3. Rock n Roll Bride @rocknrollbride
Because Kat Williams is an awesome, incredible woman. As the owner and editor of the self-funded Rock n Roll Bride magazine, she began changing up the wedding world in 2007 when she began blogging about her personal journey of organising her very own 'alternative' wedding.
In Kat's own words... "Being ‘Rock n Roll’ is not about being cool, a rebel or even thinking of the most unique idea you can. It’s about planning a day that reflects you and your partner and declaring your love in your own special way. You don’t have to be wacky, you don’t have to be offbeat and you don’t have to be intentionally quirky – you just have to be you."
I also recommend following her on Twitter. ;)
4. The Knot Real Weddings @theknotrealweddings
Real Wedding Inspiration, as simple as that!
If you're planning you're wedding you'll have most definitely heard of The Knot, but their real weddings account focuses of photos of real weddings, stories and quotes, ideas for your ceremony and your wedding day, and is basically just BRIMMING WITH WEDDING INSPO. Sorry for the caps, but have a look and then tell me you are not totally overwhelmed with a list longer than your arm of Pinterest research.
I'm talking cacti name places, remarkable arches and venues, dresses and suits, traditions incorporated into modern weddings, and much more.
Well, I know it seems an obvious choice and I'm sorry, it's also a shameless plug, because I'm about to be featured in the next 3 BRIDES magazines (the first is released on the 26th July. Yes I'm completely, totally shameless).
However, @brides has over 1 million Instagram followers, and @bridesmagazine has over 250 thousand followers, so clearly they are doing something right!!
I hope this has been helpful for all you excited couples planning your wedding. I do follow WAY more accounts than this as you can imagine, and I will be posting about even more of them on my Instagram stories over the next week, so make sure you pop by to follow me and give them a watch for more wedding inspiration on Insta.
If you have any suggestions for me of other accounts to follow, I would LOVE to hear about them! Comment below!
