Ceremony Quotes for the Cinema Lovers & Movie Buffs

My boyfriend and I love watching movies - at home, at the cinema, on weekday evenings and lazy Sunday afternoons, we really can't get enough.
I have always been a hardcore Rom Com fan, however being in a relationship has forced me into trying out some other genres, which I'm actually really happy about!

I love a good sci-fi now, and of course, the brilliant Marvel movies have taken over the world (I'm not sure if I'll ever get round to watching them all), and Guardians Of The Galaxy is pure comedy genius and a MUST watch!

Despite all of this, 9 times out of 10 a good romantic story line still goes a long way in forming my overall opinion of a film, it's just who I am.

For lovers of the big screen, you'll know that iconic lines and quotes are key for producing drama, evoking your emotions, making you laugh so hard you spit out your wine (or tea/water/juice, but it's normally wine), and for those big final moments at the end that sum up the whole experience.

Your wedding day should reflect who you are individually and as a couple, so your hobbies are a great way to show and capture this. If watching movies (or a particular genre or series) is your thing, then use it!

Everyone has certain lines from films that they remember and can recite word for word. Of course, they won't all be suitable for your big day, but funny, romantic and inspiring quotes can be used in many ways.

How can you use movie quotes within your wedding?

Decoration & Stationary

You could name your tables after films/actors, and write your favourite quotes from each on the centrepieces, use them on your invitations, or typed or handwritten by your Celebrant onto your wedding certificate.

Ceremony script

Insert your favourite captions into your ceremony script by quoting a movie or using them seamlessly as inspirational wording.

For example:

After their first couple of dates, Henry knew that John was the man he would marry. They moved in together after just 2 months, and Henry proposed on their 6 month anniversary - to Johns tears and uncontrollable laughter!
The first film they watched together after moving in to their flat in Cambridge was When Harry Met Sally, and Henry started planning the proposal after that night, after being inspired by the line “When you realise you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.”.....

{While talking about love and marriage} "In my opinion, the best thing you can do is find someone who loves you for exactly what you are. Good mood, bad mood, ugly, pretty, handsome, what have you."

Georgia and Paulo, by making this commitment to each other, you are promising to support and celebrate one another through it all....

Using your partners' favourite wording from a film is a really cute, personal touch to include in your vows to make them smile. It shows that you pay attention to the little details and remember things that are important to them.

For example:

Helen, I promise to be your rock, your shoulder to cry on and your hand to hold,

I promise to make you laugh every day, no matter how hard I have to try,

and to be honest, open, confident and trusting, that we can withstand anything that life throws at us.

I love you very much, probably more than anybody could love another person.

There are lots of other ways you can use these quotes, I would love to hear your ideas and if you want to hear more ideas, feel free to get in touch with me or comment below!

A great way to start thinking about ones you can use, list your top 5/10 movies, and then your partners top 5/10. Google them, or better yet, watch them if you have time! And make notes of any that you think represent you and the way you feel, your relationship, your journey together and memories you've made.

Below are some examples from my personal favourites and hours of research on Pinterest (if you're on there less than an hour you're doing it wrong), to give you some inspiration... Enjoy! X

The best love is the kind that awakens the soul; that makes us reach for more, that plants the fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds. That’s what I hope to give you forever.
— The Notebook
It’s not gonna be easy, it’s going to be really hard; we’re gonna have to work at this every day, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, forever, every day, You and me.
— The Notebook
I would rather spend one lifetime with you, than face all the ages of this world alone.
— Lord of The Rings
I believe what you believe. And I believe in love. Only love will truly save the world.
— Wonder Woman
Relationships are about intangible things. They’re about moments. The real moments and who you share them with. And the realest moments that I’ve had over the past (insert your time frame here) years have been with you.
— When We First Met
When you look in her eyes, and she’s looking back in yours, everything feels not quite normal, because you feel stronger, and weaker at the same time. You feel excited, and at the same time, terrified. The truth is you don’t know what you feel, except you know what kind of man you want to be. It’s as if you’ve reached the unreachable, and you weren’t ready for it.
— Spiderman (And Sheldon uses this line on Amy in The Big Bang Theory!)
I have to protect the one thing that I can’t live without. That’s you.
— Iron Man 3
Your crazy matches my crazy, big time.
— Deadpool
I love you very much, probably more than anybody could love another person.
— 50 First Dates
Being with you is the only way I could have a full and happy life. You’re the girl of my dreams, and apparently, I’m the man of yours.
— 50 First Dates
In my opinion, the best thing you can do is find someone who loves you for exactly what you are. Good mood, bad mood, ugly, pretty, handsome, what have you.
— Juno
In the blink of an eye, something happens by chance - when you least expect it - sets you on a course that you never planned, into a future you never imagined.
— The Lucky One
Moral fibre. So, what is moral fibre? It’s funny, I used to think it was always telling the truth, doing good deeds, basically being a ****ing boy scout. But lately, I’ve been seeing it differently. Now I think moral fibre’s about finding that one thing you really care about. That one special thing that means more to you than anything else in the world. And when you find her, you fight for her. You risk it all, you put her in front of everything, your future, your life, all of it. And maybe the stuff you do to help her isn’t so clean. You know what? It doesn’t matter. Because in your heart you know, that the juice is worth the squeeze. That’s what moral fibre’s all about.
— The Girl Next Door
It’s an extraordinary thing to meet someone who you can bare your soul to and accept you for what you are. I’ve been waiting, for what seems like a very long time, to get beyond what I am. No measure of time with you will be long enough. But let’s start with forever.
— The Twilight Saga, Breaking Dawn part 2

I like you, very much, just as you are.
— Bridget Jones’s Diary
Life is not merely a series of meaningless accidents or coincidences, but rather it is a tapestry of acts that culminate in an exquisite, sublime plan. “
— Serendipity
The greatest thing you’ll ever learn is to love, and be loved in return.
— Moulin Rouge
When you realise you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.
— When Harry Met Sally
To me, you are perfect, and my (insert own wording here - full, endless, etc) heart will love you, until… (Improv this part! e.g... for the rest of my life)
— Love Actually
It was a million tiny little things that, when you added them all up, they meant we were supposed to be together. And I knew it.
— Sleepless in Seattle
Poetry, Beauty, Romance, Love. These are what we stay alive for.
— Dead Poets Society (Robin Williams)
